PRESQUE ISLE, Maine — Just a week before the beginning of practices, SAD 1 has announced it has a new Nordic ski coach.
Nicole Ward has been hired to oversee the Presque Isle High School varsity girls and boys teams. She replaces Von Perry, who moved out of the area.
Ward is a graduate of Caribou High School and skied for the Vikings throughout her middle school and high school career. She also did some training with the Maine Winter Sports Center.
Ward graduated from the University of Maine at Presque Isle in 2015 with a bachelor’s degree in athletic training. She is employed as a residential counselor for the Aroostook Mental Health Center.
She and her husband reside in Presque Isle with their two pets.
