CASTLE HILL, Maine — Jim Baillargeon of Castle Hill recently received the 2018 Stephen B. Mooers Award given by MaineHousing.
According to an article in the November newsletter of the Maine State Housing Authority, MaineHousing created the Mooers Award in 2015 to recognize the contributions of individuals in the housing field who exemplify Mooers’ lifelong commitment to assist Maine people in obtaining and maintaining quality affordable housing and services. Mooers, who passed away in 2014, was the CEO for housing at the Penquis Community Action Program.
Baillargeon, director of energy and housing emeritus for Aroostook County Action Program, retired as energy and housing director in 2018 after 37 years of service to ACAP in northern Maine.
He first joined ACAP as an outreach worker for the preventive health program. He held a number of positions, including parent involvement and social services coordinator for Head Start, director of special services, and beginning in 2001, director of Energy and Housing Services.
The newsletter states, “Jim is widely recognized as being effective, highly efficient, and a man of his word,” and reports Baillargeon enjoys the outdoors, gardening, playing guitar and traveling to visit family.
