Gladys J. ‘Jeanette’ Campbell

LIMESTONE, Maine – Gladys J. ‘Jeanette’ Campbell, 95, wife of the late Alvin Campbell, passed away Tuesday morning, November 20, 2018, at a Caribou healthcare facility, following a brief illness. She was born January 11, 1923, in Limestone, the daughter of Henry and Mildred (McLaughlin) Bell and attended Caswell and Limestone schools.
Jeanette worked at Melissa’s Restaurant, Limestone, owned and operated “The Lunch Box” in Limestone, the “Wagon Wheel” in Caswell, and the “Spruce Restaurant” in Caswell. She also worked at the Loring Air Force Base N.C.O. Club cafeteria for a period of time.
After moving to Massachusetts, Jeanette attended the LaBaron Beauty School and worked at Carl’s Beauty Shop in Lawrence, MA, and also worked at Tyco Co. in Massachusetts. She resided in Salem, New Hampshire for a number of years prior to moving back to Limestone to enjoy her retirement years.
In addition to her parents, Jeanette was predeceased by her husband, Alvin; one son, Clayton H. Kelley on August 30, 2018; two brothers, Clayton and Bernard Bell; one sister, Juanita Berube; and one grandson, Troy A. Witham. She is survived by two daughters, Carolyn Witham and her companion, Florent Beaulieu of Limestone and Fountain, FL, Juanita “Sally” Sullivan of Nottingham, NH; one sister, Wyona “Noni” O’Neal of Caswell; eight grandchildren, Christopher P. Kelley and his companion, Marsha Nichols of Limington, Charles “Chuck” Kelley and his wife, Jo-Ellen of Limestone, Scott A. Kelley and his wife, Kari, of Standish, John Witham and his wife, Toni, of Hudson, NH, Darla Bellomy and her husband, Gary, of Panama City, FL, Darcy Nadeau and her husband, Glenn, of Mapleton, Jeffrey Sullivan and his wife, Lisa, of Nottingham, NH, Sue Ellen Trombley and her companion, Steve, of Pittsfield, NH; nine great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren; and several niece and nephews.
The family of Mrs. Campbell wishes to extend their sincere gratitude to the doctors and staff of the Caribou Nursing Home and Rehab for the wonderful and compassionate care given to Jeanette during her stay. She often commented on how wonderful her caregivers there were to her. A graveside service will take place at the St. Louis Catholic Cemetery, Limestone at a later date.
