LESLIE THEO ‘BUDDY’ RHEINLANDER, SOUTHPORT, N.C. – Leslie Theo ‘Buddy’ Rheinlander, 81, passed away at his home in Southport, NC, on November 18, 2018. Mr. Rheinlander was born in Houlton, Maine, on March 24, 1937, to John Robert and Mabel Brown Rheinlander.
Mr. Rheinlander is survived by his wife of 35 years, Ann Hatcher Rheinlander; his children, Thomas Lloyd Rheinlander and his wife, Loraine, of Sarasota, FL, Robert Fulton Rheinlander and his wife, Donna, of Ft. Myers, FL, Debra Jean Miller of Carlsbad, CA, Leslie Joann Harris and her husband, Bob, of Charlotte, NC, and Mark David Rheinlander and his wife, Kim, of Charleston, SC; and two stepchildren, Tony Ostroski and his wife, Candy of Savannah, GA and Natalie McCain and her husband, Chad of Lynchburg, VA. In addition, Mr. Rheinlander has nine grandchildren including Caleb and James McCain, who know him as Papa, and his newest grandchild, William Benjamin McCain, born July 4, 2018, who got to meet his Papa on October 12 of this year.
Mr. Rheinlander was preceded in death by his infant daughter, Katherine; two sisters, Julia E. Good of Monticello, ME, and Judith Sanders of Seneca, SC. He is survived by his brother-in-law and oldest dear friend, Cedric Good of Littleton, ME.
A memorial service will be held November 24, 2018, at Peacock, Newnam, and White Funeral Home in Southport, NC at 2 p.m. A reception will follow at his home. The family will hold a celebration of life in Houlton, ME, at First Unitarian Universalist church in summer of 2019, date to be announced.
