Auditions on tap for Star Bright Children’s Theatre

HOULTON, Maine — Auditions for Houlton Star Bright Children’s Theatre’s spring production will be held Wednesday, Dec. 12, from 3-4:30 p.m., at the Houlton Wesleyan Church on Kelleran Street.

All students in third through sixth grade are welcome to participate, both on stage or behind the scenes.

This year’s play, to be performed Friday and Saturday, April 5 and 6, is “Stories of the Ancients.”  It was created and will be directed by Mary Miller, and is based on Native American legends as introduced by tribal elders.  Children discover the stories, act them out, learn from them — and have some fun along the way.

Rehearsals are tentatively scheduled for Tuesdays and Thursdays, 2:45-4 p.m., beginning Jan. 3, and will be held at the Wesleyan Church. The performances will be at Houlton Community Arts Center at Houlton Middle/High School.

Parents are asked to not drop children off for auditions before 2:45 p.m., and to pick them up promptly at 4:30 p.m. They are encouraged to help their child register, but do not need to stay for the audition.

For more information, contact Miller by email at marymillermaine@gmail.com or call 757-7200 or Gary Farnham, gfarnham@stillwatersstudio.net, 538-9492.

HSBCT is a non-profit, volunteer organization begun in 1968 and dedicated to producing plays “for children, by children” in the Houlton area.   “Stories of the Ancients” continues a long tradition of community theater and its opportunities for our young people to shine.
