Emera crews investigating outage that has affected thousands of Aroostook customers

AROOSTOOK COUNTY — Crews from Emera Maine are investigating the cause of a power outage that has affected more than 1,000 customers in central Aroostook County.

As of 7:29 p.m. there have been 682 reported outages in Limestone, 159 in Caswell, 131 in Fort Fairfield and 83 in Hamlin due to causes that are currently unknown, according to a press release from Emera.

Officials reminded residents not to touch a downed power line or tree that has come into contact with a downed line and to slow down when approaching utility crews on the roadways. Crews do not yet know when power will be restored to customers.
