The Aroostook Agency on Aging is proud to announce that Tara Henderson is the new Medicare Education Coordinator. In this role, Tara will lead the Agency’s effort to assist people as they consider their Medicare and insurance options, both for those new to Medicare and those making changes during open enrollment periods.
Sharon Berz, Director of Long Term Services and Supports for the Agency shared, “Tara’s extensive knowledge of the resources available in Aroostook County and Medicare, paired with her commitment to older people in our community, makes her a natural fit for this role.”
As part of her role, Tara will coordinate open enrollment clinics held throughout Aroostook County in the fall of each year. At clinics, community volunteers work alongside agency staff to review and assist individuals as they compare renewal options for benefits, as well as cost of coverage.
“I look forward to working with community volunteers to expand clinic and counseling offerings in this program,” explained Tara. “The more volunteers we engage, the more people we can help with this important service.”
Tara is a graduate from the University of Maine at Presque Isle with a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Management in 2005. She was hired that same year by the Agency and since that time has held several positions with progressive responsibility. In her most recent role as Intake Coordinator, she built a strong knowledge of a variety of topics facing older people and provided consumers and staff with information and resources to meet their needs.
