T8, R5, Maine — A family of 7 on their way home to Woodland from Bangor escaped injuries but wrecked their van when they crashed into a moose on Route 11 in T8 R5 south of Masardis.
Herbert Arce, 52 of Woodland, was driving a 2014 Dodge Van with family members northbound on Route 11 when they struck a moose around 7:45 p.m. Sunday, according to the Maine State Police.
Ashland EMS providers checked the occupants of the van and no one required hospitalization. Members of the Ashland Fire Department helped the family’s young children stay warm while they found transportation home, according to the state police.
The family received a ride home from Registered Maine Guide John Graves, who heard about their situation on public safety radio.
