WASHBURN, Maine — The David J. Lyon Washburn District Elementary School will send six representatives to the Presque Isle Elks Lodge 1954 Hoop Shoot foul shooting competition, to be held Dec. 29, at the University of Maine at Presque Isle’s Wieden Gymnasium.

A total of 55 students — 26 girls and 29 boys — participated in the local Hoop Shoot, conducted by Laura Gardiner, the school’s physical education instructor.

Earning a trip to Presque Isle for the next round were Scarlet Harris and Curtis Wheeler in the 8-9 year old division, Logan Curtis and Avery Nadeau for 10-11 year olds, and Caitlyn Arce and Benjamin Turner for 12-13 year olds.

The Presque Isle Elks Lodge provided trophies to the six local winners.
