Two UMPI men’s basketball players and a Husson player from Washburn have picked up North Atlantic Conference weekly honors.
Wilburn Griffiths, a junior forward from Queens, New York, was named Player of the Week for the week ending Dec. 15. Griffiths scored 12 points and added seven rebounds, an assist and a blocked shot in a victory over UM-Fort Kent and then had 14 points, nine rebounds, two steals and two blocks in a win over UM-Machias.
Griffin Guerrette was the choice for Rookie of the Week. The freshman guard from Presque Isle had 14 points, eight rebounds, two assists and a block against UM-Fort Kent and followed that up with nine points, five assists, four rebounds and a steal in the UMM contest. He was 8 for 9 from the foul line in the two contests.
Senior guard Kenzie Worcester of the Husson Eagles was named Player of the Week after scoring 26 second-half points in a win over Endicott College. The 2015 Washburn District High School graduate finished with 33 points to put her over the 1,500-point mark for her Husson career. She also pulled down seven rebounds in the game.
