Houlton Elementary School students answer holiday questions

HOULTON, Maine — The Houlton Pioneer Times wanted to hear from students at Houlton Elementary School on a variety of holiday-related topics. Contributing writer Karen Donato spoke to kindergarteners, first- and second-graders to get their input on Christmas questions.

The following is the responses of six students at the school.

What is mistletoe? — “Mistletoe is a missile with toe feet all over it,” Korbin Griffith, first grade.

What is the North Pole? — “It is a line. Jacob lives there and Santa, too. It’s cold.” Dorothy Norton, kindergarten.

What family tradition do you have at Christmas? — “My family has to wait on the stairs for a picture before we go downstairs to open presents. I don’t like it that much!” Barrett Peabody, first grade.

What gift would you like to give your parents or loved one? — “If I could give my parents something special it would be love. And a statue of a snowman or Santa,” Elena Lloyd, first grade.

What gift would you like to give your parents or loved one? — “If I could give my mom something special it would be a ring,” Brendin Connors, kindergarten.

What gift would you like to give your parents or loved one? — “If I could give my parents something special it would be a new coffee pot,” Aiden Locke, second grade.
