BANGOR, Maine — The Hampden Academy Broncos dominated their swim meet against Carlisle at Husson University Friday, Dec. 21, but The County team including swimmers from Caribou and Fort Fairfield still posted some strong individual showings.
The Carlisle girls scored 38 points and the boys scored 36 behind the performances of Cassidy Coiley and Jason Bernaiche, who won two events each.
Coiley picked up a first in the girls’ 200-yard freestyle in 2 minutes and 27.72 seconds and also won the 100 backstroke in 1:15.93.
Bernaiche claimed the victory in the boys’ 200 free in 2:19.23 and took first in the 100 butterfly in 1:08.18.
The team’s other first-place winner in the meet was Chris Parent, whose time in the 100 backstroke was 1:16.52.
Carlisle enjoyed some success in some of the relays by taking second place in three of them.
The foursome of Parent, Spencer Soucy, Bernaiche and Grady McKeough swam the boys’ 200 medley relay in 2:28.
In the 400 girls’ freestyle relay, Riley McNeal, Alexis Valenca, Coiley and Annicka Benson recorded a time of 5:22.43, while on the boys’ side, Bernaiche, Nick Staples, Parent and Soucy finished in 4:51.71.
