Sirois currently works as workforce coordinator in Presque Isle with the Northeastern Workforce Development Board. She also is a member of the Presque Isle Kiwanis Club, president of the Northeast Society for Human Resource Managers, and runs a small business, MaineSimple, selling all natural soaps, bug sprays, lupine seeds and other craft products.

Sirois will begin her role at the Central Aroostook Chamber on Jan. 7 and will replace  Theresa Fowler, who led the organization for 10 years before leaving last summer.

Originally from Connecticut, Sirois moved to Aroostook County with her family as a youth, attended Presque Isle schools and went on to work in human resources for Sitel, the cities of Caribou and Presque Isle, and most recently the Northeastern Workforce Development Board.

“Community-based work has been my passion,” Sirois said. “I’m excited to work with this board. I know it’s a working, active, passionate board. I think we’ll do great things together.”

Sherry Sullivan, the chamber’s board president, said in a press release that Sirois brings a range of experience from working in municipal government and workforce development.

“The Chamber Board believes that LaNiece’s experiences in strategic planning, policy development, and collaboration will be instrumental in moving the Chamber to a new level in community involvement,” Sullivan said in the release. “Also, we are excited to have LaNiece’s years of experience serving as a coordinator for community and civic organization events.”

The Central Aroostook Chamber of Commerce represents 23 communities and organizes a range of events, including the Crown of Maine Balloon Festival in August.
