HODGDON, Maine — Former players from Hodgdon High School returned to their alma mater Saturday, Dec. 29, to lace up their sneakers one more time for men’s and women’s basketball games.
It marked the first time in a couple of years that alumni basketball games were played in Hodgdon. The last alumni games were held in December 2015 as a fundraiser for Addie Woods, while in 2014 the games benefited Maya Gardiner.
This year’s games served as a fundraiser for the Class of 2020 and the Hodgdon JMG program.
“Anita Levesque, the junior class advisor, and I got together and wanted to do something that could raise a little bit of money for our two groups and also be fun,” Hodgdon JMG instructor Jason Little said. “We wanted to get the former players together from Hodgdon, and hopefully raise some money.”
Participating in the women’s game were Sydney Howell (2018), Janelle Goff (2018), Jessica Drew (2017), Lauren Howell (2014), Lacey McQuarrie (2013), McKensie Dorr (2013), Emmaly Susanne (2010), Tasha Doty (2006), Chelsea Henderson (2003), Jodi Williams (1990s) and Alissa Beals (1990s).
For the men’s teams, participants were Wyatt Foster (2018), Dillon Buzzell (2017), Daden Palmer (2017), Matt Tuttle (2017), Jimmy Buzzell (2016), Tyler Barton (2015), Tyler Sherman (2014), Nick Lunn (2013), Devon Logie (2013), Jacob Tidd (2011), Seth Dorr (2007), Kirby Sanford (2007), Adam Hogan (2003), Ryan Cleary (2005), Tyler Putnam (2002), Jason Little (2000), Jeremy Knowles (2000), Steven Blanchette (1998) Evan Clark (1997).
Teams were split into blue and white based on the year of their graduation. In the women’s game, the “white” team, which featured players from 2013-18, was victorious, 33-28, while in the men’s game, the “white” team, featuring players from 2011-18, was also victorious, 81-70.
“The games always start out fun, but often turn competitive, especially with the men,” Little said. “But it is all in good fun.”
