YORK, Maine — Maine State Police summoned a Presque Isle man on a charge of trafficking in illegal drugs after a trooper reported finding 40 grams of heroin while searching the suspect’s car on the Maine Turnpike.

On Jan. 6, Trooper John Darcy stopped Damon Fagan, 43, of Presque Isle and Limestone, while he was traveling northbound on the Maine Turnpike in York.

The roadside stop led to an investigation and search of the vehicle, which uncovered the heroin, according to a Maine State Police press release posted on Facebook.

The street value of 40 grams of heroin would be approximately $8,000, based on previous reports involving recent heroin seizures.

Police charged Fagan with class A aggravated trafficking in schedule 2 drugs and class E violation of conditions of release, according to the post. He also will be facing a charge of operating after suspension upon indictment, the police said.
