MASARDIS, Maine — A tractor-trailer loaded with potatoes rolled over on Route 11 in Masardis during a snowstorm Wednesday afternoon when the driver attempted to pass a snowplow that had pulled over to the side of the road to let other vehicles go by, according to the Maine State Police.
Brian Albert, 62, of Sinclair was traveling south on Route 11 when he went to pass a Maine Department of Transportation snowplow that had pulled over on the side of the road to let vehicles pass, state police reported in a press release issued Thursday.
Albert’s front driver’s side tire caught the soft snow on the left side of the road, causing the tractor-trailer loaded with potatoes to go off the roadway and roll onto the driver’s side of the rig, reported Trooper Caleb Adams.
Albert, who was wearing his seatbelt, was not injured, according to the trooper.
“The poor road conditions and limited visibility during the snowstorm played a large factor in this crash,” the release states.
Because of the storm, the rig was left where it was overnight and arrangements were made to pull the tractor-trailer out Thursday morning.
