Valley welcomes first baby of 2019

FORT KENT, Maine — The St. John Valley had to wait a week into the new year, but was finally able to greet its first baby of 2019.

Evelynn Audrey Boucher was born at 11:27 a.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 8, 2019, at Northern Maine Medical Center to proud parents Melinda and Brien Boucher of Fort Kent.

Her maternal grandparents are Colette and Jeffrey Plourde, and paternal grandparents are Wendy and Riki Boucher.

Evelynn weighed in at 6 pounds, 1.6 ounces and is the couple’s second child.  The Bouchers’ firstborn child, son Connor, is now 2. Baby Evelynn was delivered by Dr. Kristin Hartt.

NMMC staff extended their congratulations to the family.

In keeping with a long-standing St. John Valley tradition, the first baby of the new year received a gift basket, valued at just under $900, filled with baby supplies, toys and services, all donated by a wide array of area businesses, organizations and individuals.
