WOODLAND, Maine — Icy roads and snow drifts led to town selectmen cancelling their monthly meeting, which had been scheduled for Tuesday, Jan. 22.
The board rescheduled for Jan. 29, instead to discuss a foreclosed property on the Beckstrom Road as well as possibilities for a new security system for the town office and school.
Officials have been discussing Improved security in Woodland since mid October of 2018, when selectman Tom Drew, who owns a dairy farm just a few hundred feet up from the school and town office, cited numerous occasions in which he has personally witnessed suspicious activity around both buildings.
Additionally, town officials brought up complaints of youths going to the cemetery, which is adjacent to the town office, late at night.
Selectmen have considered security packages from Inlution and Northern Business Products, both local suppliers. Most recently, they discussed their options during a Dec. 27 meeting. While they took no formal action, the selectmen did listen to feedback from residents in attendance, including a suggestion to seek a quote form Seacoast Security, a Maine and New Hampshire security company with a Presque Isle office.
The Jan. 29 meeting is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. at the town office on 843 Woodland Center Road.
