BANGOR, Maine — Caribou junior Parker Deprey scorched Washington Academy for 27 points when the teams met during the regular season in East Machias, and he had his way again in the rematch at the Cross Insurance Center Friday.

Deprey poured in 25 points in the Class B North quarterfinal, leading the Vikings to a 73-49 triumph.

Second-ranked Caribou, now 16-3, will play No. 6 Ellsworth in Wednesday’s semifinal at 2:05 p.m. No. 10 Washington Academy, who upset Orono in the preliminary playoff round, ended up with a 9-11 record.

Caribou’s defense flustered WA for most of the game, forcing several turnovers and difficult shots. The Vikings put the game away early in the third quarter by scoring the first six points after they had already held a 12-point lead at halftime.

Washington Academy’s only lead of the game came with 2:50 left in the first quarter as Jose Blanco hit a foul-line jumper to make it 10-8. Blanco tallied his team’s first 10 points of the game.

After that, Caribou took over behind a ferocious full-court press that led to numerous Raider turnovers. The Vikings scored 19 of the game’s next 24 points in the following five minutes to grab a 12-point advantage.

Deprey dominated by scoring 17 points in the half and he also set up his younger brother Sawyer, a sophomore, for a pair of easy layups during the flurry.

Alex Bouchard finished with 18 points and Sawyer Deprey had 13 for Caribou. Blanco netted 14 points and Donald Soctomah came off the bench and ended up with 12 to lead WA.
