Fiddlers’ Jamboree returns March 3

FORT KENT, Maine – The University of Maine at Fort Kent is preparing for the region’s popular jam session and house party for music lovers at its annual Fiddlers’ Jamboree on Sunday, March 3rd from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. in UMFK’s Fox Auditorium. The doors will open to the public at 12:30 p.m.

The event is open to the public. Admission is $8 for adults and children ages 12 and under may attend free.

The jamboree brings together local talent of the St. John Valley, across the state, and Canada for an afternoon of impromptu performances. Rising stars, as well as seasoned veterans, take their turn. The event is an opportunity for people to strut their stuff whether they play an instrument, sing, or dance.

The talent that lives amongst us will amaze you. The jamboree is very successful and attendance continues to grow with peoples’ feet stomping and cameras rolling.

UMFK continues to preserve and foster an appreciation of the Acadian and Franco-American heritage and culture by hosting annual events, such as the “Fiddlers’ Jamboree” and the “Sucrerie,” which will be held this year on Thursday, March 14th from 11 to 1 p.m. in Nowland Hall.

Fiddlers, guitarists, other acoustic musicians, and singers are still invited and encouraged to take part in the Sunday afternoon jam session.

Interested participants are encouraged to contact in advance of the jamboree, Susan Tardie at (207) 834-7557 or 1-888-879-8635 ext. 7557 or Warren Harvey, at (207) 834-3939.
