CARIBOU, Maine — The Caribou Technology Center’s DECA club, an organization for business and marketing entrepreneurs, competed at the recent state championships in Auburn and returned home with several honors.
Reed Nonken, DECA adviser at the Caribou center, said eight local students participated against roughly 60 other students from across the state. Each of the eight students placed in the competition, earning trips to the podium.
Emily Michaud, Karlee Willett and Karrie Triplett placed first in their respective categories, with Gabriel Rand and Theodore Strid placing second. Logan Lusardi and Jacob Ouellette placed third.
Triplett won the top honor at the competition, receiving the highest award for the top test score in the state.
At the competition, students competed in a variety of business and marketing events focused on industry knowledge along with a practical presentation.
