The Mapleton Lions Club has announced it is beginning preparations for its annual charity auction. The annual auction is the major fundraiser of the year for the club and the charities and causes it supports.
The auction will again be chaired by Lion Matt Gregg who will be an auctioneer along with club auctioneer Lion Ron Leonard. Club members have begun soliciting donations from local businesses and friends of the club.
Gregg announced the annual auction will be held on Saturday, May 4, starting at 6:30 p.m. The club will also serve a baked ham and bean dinner prior to the start of the auction. Everyone is invited to attend the dinner and stay for the auction of approximately 300 items and services donated to support Mapleton Lions Club charities.
At its meeting on March 4, the Mapleton Lions Club inducted Walter Scott as a new member. The induction ceremony was led by Club Secretary Terry Sandusky, who was assisted by Scott’s membership sponsor, Dennis Hoffses.
Scott is well known around The County as he was longtime driver for UPS and has now retired. He is looking to be more community involved through volunteer activities of the Mapleton Lions Club.
