CARIBOU, Maine — The Caribou Parks and Recreation Department held its seventh annual High School Age Indoor Soccer Fundraiser Saturday, March 23.
Eight girls teams played in the morning and four boys teams in the afternoon. The girl’s teams included Caribou, Presque Isle, Houlton, Maine School of Science and Mathematics, two Madawaska teams, and two Fort Kent teams.
The boys teams were Caribou, Madawaska, Ashland, and MSSM.
The event consists of round robin games to seed teams into a tournament format. The girls played in a double elimination tournament, which included Caribou and Presque Isle playing in the championship game for the t-shirt and bragging rights.
Caribou came out of the loser’s bracket had to beat Presque Isle twice, but came up just short losing in the championship game in overtime. Presque Isle didn’t waste any time in the overtime period as they scored in only 4 seconds to claim the 2019 girls title.
On the boys side, with a few less teams, teams played in a three-game guarantee bracket. Caribou was going for its third straight indoor title and claimed it fairly easily defeating MSSM.
