Mapleton plans spring craft fair

Just in time for Easter and Mother’s Day, the Mapleton Daze Committee will host their annual Spring Craft Fair and Vendor Sale this Saturday, April 13. By shopping at the event, shoppers will support both the small community and our local crafters as well as the annual Mapleton Daze celebration.

The Mapleton Daze Committee will have homemade beans, rolls, raffle tickets for a fire pit, and boxes of all-occasion cards on sale, with proceeds going to Mapleton Daze in June.  Stop by the table and visit with Mapleton Daze volunteers.

The committee announced several businesses and individuals have become supporters of Mapleton Daze 2019, and thanked each of these supporters for helping making the Mapleton Daze celebration possible.

Annual Lions auction

President Adam Nicak of the Mapleton Lions Club announced the club’s 57th annual auction will be held on May 4, 2017, at the Mapleton Lions Hall.  Club members have begun soliciting the nearly 400 items, gift certificates and services that will be auctioned.

The auction is the club’s single largest fundraising event and brings in approximately 70 percent of its annual income.  Donations are always welcome. Any Lion club member will be willing to accept your donation.

Prior to the auction the Lions will serve the annual public dinner.  This year they will serve a traditional baked ham and bean dinner from 4:30 to 6 p.m., also at the Lions Hall. Following a short setup break, the auction will begin at 6:30 p.m., with Lions Club auctioneers Matt Gregg and Ron Leonard.

Everyone is encouraged to come out and support the Mapleton Lions Club in their annual fundraising evening.

Lions thank donors

On Feb. 5, 2019, Eugene Hoffses of Castle Hill passed away.  To Mapleton Lion Dennis Hoffses, he was known simply as Uncle Gene.  Family members remembered how much Gene appreciated the projects and community activities of the Mapleton Lions Club and, based on that memory, decided to honor Gene by making donations to the club.

The family donors were Charlie and Lori Hill and Family, Bruce and Lauri Buck, Tom Perry and family, Roger, Gayle, Karl, Theresa and Scott Hoffses, Terry and Beth Thomas, Sharon and Dennis Tilton, Chris and Gwen  Hoffeses, Marjorie Murchison, Donna Murchison, Pamela Murchison, John Murchison, Ken and Jan Murchison, Joan and Larry Michaud, Dennis and Myra Hoffses, Norma Haines and Ina Hoffses.

The Mapleton Lions thank the family members for the support shown in memory of a friend of the club and its work.

Senior meeting

The Mapleton, Chapman and Castle Hill Seniors will hold their next regular potluck luncheon at the Mapleton Methodist Church on Monday, April 15, at 11:30 a.m.

Caroline Ballerstein, senior president, reminds everyone over age 55, you are invited to attend and join the group.  It is a traditional potluck lunch, so bring something and enjoy the lunch prepared by experienced cooks.
