HOULTON, Maine — What a wonderful weekend. The temperatures were in the mid-50s with marginal breezes. Oh, and did you notice the snowpack is finally melting with little patches of green starting to show?

With rain and warm weather predicted, we will be walking on the golf course soon. A few greens are already bare. The grounds crew should be out on the course cleaning up the winter debris within the next couple of weeks. Yearly maintenance on machinery will start this week. We will keep you updated.

The Lakeside Restaurant opened this weekend to quite a crowd. Bill and Nancy are back and all is well. They will be open again this week on Friday and Saturday 4-8 p.m. And there will be a fantastic Easter Brunch from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Sunday. Give Nancy a call at 694-9494 for reservations.

The Golf for Life meeting was well attended and it looks like we are going to have a full class. If you are interested in learning the game of golf, give David Grant a call at 538-8333 to sign up. Classes will start the week of May 5.

One of the new rule changes this year concerns the dropping of the ball after a penalty or relief. Before, you needed to drop the ball at arms length at shoulder height. The new rule dictates that the drop begins at knee height. This should expedite play as fewer balls will need to be re-dropped due to bouncing toward the green. Also when dropped in the rough, they may not sink out of sight.

Continue to think warm thoughts because they are working. The white stuff will be gone soon and we will all be back on the course chasing the little white ball. See you out there.
