Fourteen new troopers, including two who will patrol in Aroostook County, graduated on April 12 from the Maine Criminal Justice Academy in Vassalboro. The three women and 11 men of the 72nd recruit training class have been assigned to troops around the state.
Among the newest troopers, Ted Martin is from Fort Kent and graduated from the University of Maine at Fort Kent in May of 2018 with an associate degree in criminal justice. He is pursuing a bachelor’s degree in public safety administration. Previously he worked as a journeyman oil burner technician and propane and natural gas technician. He is assigned to Troop F in Houlton.
Hunter Cotton studied criminal justice at Husson University and worked as a reserve officer for the Hampden Police Department for two years. He also worked on a lobster boat, at a local grocery store and has trained hunting dogs. Cotton is assigned to Troop F and will be patrolling southern Aroostook County.
