Sen. Mike Carpenter, D-Houlton, welcomed Maine Potato Queens and their chaperones to the Statehouse on March 21. The queens served as honorary pages. With Carpenter, left, are Kira Rogers of Fort Fairfield, Junior Miss Maine Potato Queen; Madelynn Putnam of Presque Isle, Pre-teen Miss Maine Potato Queen; Brigid Schupback of Fort Fairfield, Little Miss Maine Potato Queen; and Senate President Troy Jackson, D-Allagash. Students from third grade through high school are invited to serve in the Senate Chamber as honorary pages when the Senate is in session.
