Easton Elementary School’s grade 4-8 play will take place on Friday, May 17, at 6:30 p.m. The cost of admission is: adults $5, students $2.

Come on out for a fun-filled evening as the youth perform “Doo-Wop Wed Widing Hood,” from the book by Charlie Lovett, with music and lyrics by Bill Francoeur.  Did you know that Little Red Riding Hood had two other sisters: Big Green Riding Hood and Medium Purple Riding Hood?

Back in the kingdom of Wychwood-under-Ooze, Wise Prince Jason (winner of the Math Olympics and the Nobel Prize), Strong Prince Justin (who can bench press his own mother) and ordinary Loud Prince Frank all want to woo Little Red Riding Hood.  So the king and queen hire the Fairy Godmother — after all, this is a fairy tale — to set three tasks for the princes to perform. Only the prince who can find the missing girl, defeat the dragon and awaken a castle visitor from her slumber earns the right to woo Wed Widing Hood — that is, Red Riding Hood.

Alas, Little Red’s couch-potato parents don’t want to lose their little girl.  How else will they get their cookies delivered to Grandmother? So they hire the evil queen to thwart the Fairy Godmother’s contest.

With the Big Bad Wolf and more twists than a roller coaster, this fractured fairy tale adventure, easy to produce and great for audiences and performers of all ages, is guaranteed to end in happily-ever-after laughter.

Cleanup day

The Town of Easton will provide a collection point at the town garage on the Fry Pan Road for household junk, such as appliances, tires, furniture, wood, etc., on Saturday, May 18, from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m.

This is for Easton residents only.  Wood products must be separated. No household garbage or used oil, and no commercial loads.

There will also be a collection point next to the recycling igloos behind the town office to dispose of electronics such as:  televisions, computers, monitors, printers, fluorescent bulbs, circuit boards, cell phones, fax machines, scanners, laptops, DVD/VCR players, batteries and copiers.   All recyclables must be deposited in the igloos behind the town office.

Coordinate your spring cleaning with the Town Cleanup Day and make use of our efforts to make Easton a more beautiful place to live.

Sea Dogs

The Easton Recreation Department’s next big bus trip will be to see the Portland Sea Dogs (the Red Sox double-A affiliate) baseball team play on Sunday, May 26, against Altoona.

It’s not quite a Red Sox game, but we’re getting closer.  The best part: tickets will be only $15 and include transportation to Portland.

We only have so many tickets available, so first come, first served.  Must have 20 signed up and paid by May 10 to guarantee the trip. Organizers will begin taking reservations/payments immediately.

If any questions contact recreation@eastonme.com.
