PRESQUE ISLE, Maine — Presque Isle police officers arrested two individuals Tuesday on charges of drug trafficking and possession. The names of the man and woman arrested were not immediately released.

A resident called local police Tuesday morning to report that a woman began yelling about an apparent theft after driving into the parking lot of an apartment building on Park Street. The resident allegedly told police that the woman then got into a verbal argument with a man in the parking lot.
Officer Brady Smith said that when he and Officer Joey Seeley arrived, the man and woman had calmed down but were still arguing. The officers found that the female suspect was on bail for charges related to drug trafficking and possession, so they searched her purse and car. The woman’s bail conditions allowed officers to search her property at any time if she was involved in an incident.
The officers reported finding 16 grams of methamphetamine and two grams of what they said could be heroin or fentanyl in the center console area of the vehicle. The man and woman have been charged with trafficking in Schedule W drugs and possession of Schedule W drugs, both Class B crimes. The woman also has been charged with violating her bail conditions.
Smith said that the names of the two people arrested are being withheld due to a larger investigation in progress.
