WESTBROOK, Maine — At the Maine Credit Union League’s annual meeting and convention on May 17, credit union leaders in various categories were recognized for their outstanding service.
The league presented awards, which went to two from Aroostook County, at its convention banquet in Westbrook, with more than 700 people attending.
“Our league’s awards program recognizes the exceptional work of our credit union network’s employees and volunteers,” said Cheryl Lancaster, executive vice president of the Maine Credit Union League.
“Each day, in every county across Maine, we have credit union representatives going above and beyond to serve their communities and their members,” Lancaster said. “These awards are our way of recognizing their commitment and expressing appreciation for their service.”
The 2019 award winners included the following.
Dan Bagley, executive vice president of The County Federal Credit Union, headquartered in Presque Isle, received the Diane L. Oceretko ‘People Helping People’ Award for Community Service.
Dave Desjardins, CEO of Acadia Federal Credit Union, based in Fort Kent, received the League President’s Award for Outstanding League Volunteer.
Other winners were: Anne Marie Lane, executive vice president of TruChoice Federal Credit Union, Portland, the Jeannette G. Morin Award for Outstanding Credit Union Employee; Mason Pottle, board chair of Downeast Credit Union, Baileyville, the Alexander Ferguson Award for Outstanding Credit Union Volunteer; and Steve Baillargeon, CEO, Penobscot County Federal Credit Union, Old Town, the James M. Gratto Award for Outstanding Credit Union CEO.
The Morin, Ferguson and Gratto awards carry the names of credit union pioneers from Maine. A short video presentation highlighting all of the evening’s winners was made to further showcase their individual accomplishments.
“The best part of the evening is when we watch the videos of each winners’ colleagues talking about why they deserve their awards,” added Lancaster. “There is a great deal of pride and gratitude for their efforts and it’s on full display during this special event.”
