The Houlton Council of Catholic Women met on Monday, May 6, at 5:30 in the Parish Center for their monthly meeting.  There were nine members attending.

After the opening prayer, salute to the flag and cross and our hymn, a lunch was served by the May committee.

Following the lunch, President Sue Hardy conducted the business meeting.  Ethel Mersereau read the minutes in the absence of Kathy Klein. Jane Mitchell gave the treasurer’s report.  Jane Stile, historian, reported some activities from past years and also presented the 2019 scrapbook for members to view.

We also received an update from Jane Stile regarding the April baby shower for the Pregnancy Care Center. Many wonderful baby items were on display, thanks to the members of our group and the parishioners who also participated.

The rummage sale was discussed and temporary dates of October 3, 4 and 5 were approved, pending availability of the church hall.

The Houlton Council of Catholic Women received recognition from the MDCCW for contributing the most amount of money for the Seminarian Fund.

The June banquet will be catered by the Knights of Columbus and will held at the Parish Center on June 3.  Installation of officers will be held at this meeting.

New officers for 2019-2020 were approved.  Janet Barker will be president, Mary Grant, vice president, Jane Mitchell, treasurer and Kathy Klein, secretary.

HCCW will have a memorial Mass for all military and homeland security at the next available date.

The door prize was won by Alta Reardon.

Prayer intentions were gathered.  Jane Mitchell led in a decade of the Rosary.

Birthdays and anniversaries for May were noted.

The next meeting will be on June 3 at 5:30 in the Parish Center.  All Catholic ladies are invited to attend.
