PRESQUE ISLE, Maine — Local brass band Star City Syndicate will kick off this year’s Rockin’ on the Riverside summer concert series on Thursday, May 30.
The concert will run from 6 to 8:30 p.m. at the Riverside Pavilion in Presque Isle. Since the program’s establishment a few years ago, the concert has seen a great increase in popularity, according to Kim Smith, Presque Isle resource development and public information officer.
The concert, established by the Presque Isle Downtown Revitalization Committee, originally was held on Main Street and called “Mondays on Main” before it was moved to the Riverside Pavilion and renamed “Rockin’ on the Riverside.”
Smith said the concert series brings in between 800 and 1,000 spectators each show.
“It just keeps growing every year,” she said.
The summer concert series will occur on Thursdays every other week. Among Star City Syndicate, groups such as Common Crossing, No Pressure and Wally and the Virginians also are scheduled to perform this year.
In case of inclement weather, the show will be held in Wieden Hall at the University of Maine at Presque Isle. If the show is moved indoors, food and drink vendors will not be present due to limited space and a university-wide policy that prohibits alcohol on campus.
