CARIBOU, Maine — Caribou Fire and Ambulance Department was called to a house fire at 1058 Van Buren Road in Caribou at 9:40 a.m. on May 30. The fire is under investigation.
Nineteen firefighters from Caribou were on the scene and the department also received mutual aid from the Presque Isle Fire Department, according to Capt. Danny Raymond.
At noon, the house was surrounded by caution tape and a Caribou Police Department vehicle was parked in the driveway.
Raymond said at 4:45 p.m. that nobody was hurt during the incident. However, because the fire remains under investigation, the captain is unable to reveal its cause or if the homeowner was insured.
“One room was the origin of the fire,” he said, “and there was extensive smoke throughout the whole house.”
Caribou Fire and Ambulance Chief Scott Susi said Monday, June 3, the fire remains under investigation.
