EASTON, Maine — The principal of Easton Junior Senior High School, Mark Stanley, has announced the honor parts for the Class of 2019 graduation ceremonies, to be held on Friday, June 7, 2019.
Valedictorian
Joshua Rooney is the son of Jodie and Christopher Rooney. Joshua has been a member of the National Honor Society for two years, serving as the chapter president this year. He has also served as class secretary and a member of the yearbook staff as a senior.
Rooney has participated in the one-act play for two years, being awarded as a regional champion, receiving the Regional Ensemble Award and State Ensemble Award. He has also participated in Junior Exhibition and Envirothon.
Academically, he has earned highest honors throughout his high school career.
Next year he will attend Regent University in Virginia Beach, Virginia, where he will major in theological studies.
Salutatorian
Isaac Wipperman is the son of Elizabeth and Steve Wipperman. He has been a member of National Honor Society for two years, where he has served as chapter vice president this year.
He has participated in band for three years and volleyball for one.
Academically, Wipperman has earned honor roll and high honors throughout his high school career. This year, he has studied criminal justice at the Caribou Technology Center.
Next year he will continue his studies of Criminal Justice at the University of Maine at Presque Isle.
First Honor Essayist
Emily Thompson is the daughter of Heidi and Jason Thompson. Emily has participated in Varsity Club, Wellness Team and Spanish Club for four years, and Key Club for two.
She is a four-year member of the varsity cheerleading team, where she was captain as both a junior and senior. As a senior, Thompson participated in the one-act play as well as senior play, and was selected as a member of the National Honor Society.
Academically, Emily earned honor roll throughout her high school career.
Next year she will enroll at the University of Maine at Farmington, where she will study rehabilitation services.
Second Honor Essayist
Abigail Dionne is the daughter of Tara Cote and Adam Dionne. As a sophomore Abigail participated in both varsity and junior varsity basketball, and this year served as the manager for the varsity basketball team. Her junior year she was a member of the varsity cheerleading team.
She served as class president for one year, participated in Junior Exhibition and senior play. She was a member of the math team, yearbook staff and band for two years. Dionne was also a member of the Varsity Club and Spanish Club for three years.
Academically, she has maintained honor roll throughout her high school career.
This year, she studied health and medical sciences at Caribou Technology Center. In the fall, she will study nursing at the University of Maine at Fort Kent.
