HOULTON, Maine — The Maine State Police Troop F barracks in Houlton responded to 117 calls for service during the period of May 13-26, including the following.
Wednesday, May 15
PERHAM: Emera reported disconnecting power at a residence in Perham and someone reconnected and was stealing electricity. Troopers Desrosier and Levesque investigated and located the homeowner as he drove by them near his residence. The man had a suspended Maine license. An investigation showed the man reconnected the power to the residence. The man was arrested for theft of services, violation of conditions of release, and operating after suspension.
NEW LIMERICK: Sgt. Haines was called to a vehicle off the road on the County Road in New Limerick. Sgt. Haines found the man had backed out of his driveway across the roadway and into the ditch. The operator attempted to drive out of the field, but got stuck in the mud. As a result of the investigation the New Limerick man was charged with operating under the influence.
Friday, May 17
HOULTON: Tr. Bell made a traffic stop in Houlton and discovered that the male operator was under suspension. Tr Bell summonsed the male for OAS.
WADE: Tr. Casavant was called to a camp burglary on the Gardner Creek Rd in Wade. The camp owner reported the door had been kicked in and it appears someone had spent the night. Nothing was reported stolen from the camp. The case remains under investigation.
Saturday, May 18
PRESQUE ISLE: Tr. Levesque was driving through Presque Isle and stopped a vehicle for its operation. Tr. Levesque conducted field sobriety testing subsequently arresting the man for OUI. During the sobriety testing, the man tried to remove something from his pocket without Tr. Levesque noticing; the man was in possession of .19 grams of methamphetamine. The man was arrested and transported to Presque Isle Police Department for further testing/investigation.
Sunday, May 19
BLAINE: Tr. Levesque stopped a man in Blaine after recognizing him and knowing he had a suspended driver’s license. Tr. Levesque arrested the man for operating after suspension and while conducting a search located 2.1 grams of meth in the man’s pocket and 8.5 grams of heroin in the vehicle. Consequently, the man received criminal charges for the drug violations. He was transported to the Aroostook County Jail in Houlton.
Monday, May 20
HOULTON: Tr. Martin met with several students from Caribou Regional Technology Center and provided the students a tour of the Troop F barracks. Tr. Martin answered numerous questions from the students and showed them the inner workings of the Troop F Headquarters. Tr. Kilcollins assisted Tr. Martin during this event.
ISLAND FALLS: Tr. Duff is currently working a theft in Island Falls. The suspect stole an item from the local grocery store and the incident was recorded on their surveillance camera. The suspect is currently on bail for another, unrelated issue. Tr. Duff is currently investigating and working to locate the suspect.
Tuesday, May 21
PRESQUE ISLE: Tr. Martin was at the Presque Isle Court assisting a case worker with the Aroostook County Community Corrections Program. A client was there to provide a urine sample as part of his conditions. It was noted that he appeared to be concealing something in his pockets. An investigation determined the man had “clean” urine in a small bottle because he was concerned he would not pass the drug screen. The man was arrested for being in violation of his conditions and has an additional charge of falsifying evidence.
Wednesday, May 22
HOULTON: Tr. Cotton was patrolling with Tr. Bell and Tr. Bell observed a male with whom he was familiar standing next to a vehicle at a gas station. Tr. Bell knew that this male was under suspension, Tr. Cotton turned around and stopped this vehicle. The operator was summonsed for OAR and for attaching false registration plates.
Thursday, May 23
GRAND ISLE: Tr. Curtin began investigating the theft of a dirt bike in Grand Isle. The victim is incarcerated and received word his dirt bike is missing. A suspect was located and interviewed and the case remains under investigation.
EAGLE LAKE: Tr. Curtin was on patrol in Eagle Lake and had occasion to stop an ATV being operated on a public way. The operator had been drinking and after doing poorly on field sobriety Tr. Curtin arrested him for operating under the influence. An intoxilyzer test showed the man was over the legal limit and he was charged with OUI.
Friday, May 24
ISLAND FALLS: Tr. Duff was conducting traffic enforcement in Island Falls. He observed a vehicle with a man he knew had an active arrest warrant. Tr. Duff stopped the vehicle and confirmed the warrant. The man was arrested without incident and transported to the Aroostook County Jail in Houlton. The warrant was for burglary from Presque Isle PD.
WOODLAND: Tr. Curtin was called out to a crash on Route 1 in Frenchville. Tr. Curtin’s investigation showed the operator was impaired by alcohol and was fortunate to survive the crash. The female operator was charged with OUI.
Saturday, May 25
PRESQUE ISLE: Tr. Martin was conducting traffic enforcement in Presque Isle. He observed a vehicle with defective vehicle equipment and stopped the car. During the stop, he suspected the driver was impaired. After conducting field sobriety testing the man was arrested for OUI. The passenger of the vehicle had a warrant for her arrest. The driver was able to post bail and the female was transported to the Aroostook County Jail in Houlton.
FRENCHVILLE: Tr. Desrosier was conducting traffic enforcement in Frenchville. He stopped a vehicle for excessive speed and noticed the passenger, who appeared to be under the age of 21, was intoxicated. The man said he did not have an identification; however, Tr. Desrosier recognized the man and knew he was under 21 years of age. Using his PBT, Tr. Desrosier determined the minor had measurable amount of alcohol in his system. Tr. Desrosier issued the man a summons for the violation. The driver was given a warning for his speed.
FORT KENT: Tr. Curtin had occasion to stop a vehicle on Route 163 in Fort Kent. As a result of the investigation he arrested a St. Francis man and a Fort Kent man for trafficking in methamphetamine, and seized 5 grams of crystal meth along with scales and other evidence of drug trafficking.
Sunday, May 26
FRENCHVILLE: Tr. Desrosier was conducting traffic enforcement in Frenchville. He located a man lying in the grass near the roadway. Tr. Desrosier checked on the man and found him intoxicated. The 52-year-old man had gotten drunk and was trying to walk home. Tr. Desrosier gave the man a ride to his residence.
