HOULTON, Maine — Eight new queens were crowned Saturday, June 8 at the Miss Shiretown 2019 pageant at the Houlton Community Arts Center.
Spearheaded by Lori Van Houten Soucy, the pageant was a partnership with the Houlton Music Department and the Houlton Community Arts Center Council and was open to any young ladies and women between the ages of birth and 24 years of age.
Taylor Reed, formerly of Houlton and now of Trenton, was crowned Miss Shiretown 2019. She is the daughter of Mike and Becky Reed of Houlton. Tessa Solomon, daughter of Jon Solomon of Houlton, was first runner-up. She sang and played the guitar for the song “Rolling in the Deep” as a talent.
Tiny Miss Shiretown 2019 went to Siena Rines, the 3-month-old daughter of Chris and Julia Rines of Houlton.
Little Miss Shiretown First Runner Up was Amelia Noland, daughter of Dylan and Alexa Merritt of Linneus. Evelyn Mania, the 3-year-old daughter of Kevin and Katie Mania of Houlton, was crowned Little Miss Shiretown 2019.
Addison Foster of Smyrna was crowned Junior Princess Shiretown 2019. She is the daughter of Scott and Miranda Foster. Esme Schools, daughter of Eric and Kira Schools was named first runner-up; Enza Mania, daughter of Kevin and Katie Mania, was second runner-up; and Grace Robinson, daughter of Amy Condon and Charles Robinson of Ashland was third runner-up.
Brooklyn Foster, daughter of Scott and Miranda Foster of Smyrna, was crowned Princess 2019. First runner-up went to Lauren Tucker, daughter of David and Crystal Tucker of Littleton. She also received the People’s Choice Award. Isabella Mailman, the daughter of Megan and TJ Mailman of Ludlow, was second runner-up.
Dalayna Mincey, daughter of Derrick and Chantal Mincey of Merrill, was crowned Preteen Shiretown 2019. Karyssa Kenney, daughter of Karter and Michelle Kenney of Houlton, was named first runner-up. She sang “Part of Your World” as a talent. Other contestants in this category were: Aliya Schools, daughter of Shauna Farwell of Caribou and Eric and Kira Schools of Houlton; Jordyn Bouvier, daughter of Chris and Kalie Bouvier of Littleton; Rylee Cunningham, daughter of Jasmine Cyr of Houlton; and Stephanie Tuttle, daughter of Derrick and Chantal Tuttle of Merrill.
Danica Beaulieu, the daughter of Mathew Beaulieu, Julia Gorneault and Raighel Waugh of Presque Isle, was crowned Jr. Teen 2019. She performed a dance routine to “Do It Like This” as a talent. Tia Burlock, daughter of Angela and Iyan Burlock of Littleton, was named first runner-up. She sang “Castle on a Cloud” as a talent. Other contestants in this division were: Lindsey Bartman, daughter of William and Shauna Bartman of Houlton, and sang and played the piano “Life Story”, her own creation, as a talent, and Victoria Belleisle of Littleton.
Leighanna Martin, daughter of Thomas Martin of Lewiston and Sasha Web of Houlton, was crowned Teen Shiretown 2019. Other contestants were Laci Cummings, daughter of Pam and Tim Cummings of Littleton; and Autumn Sawyer, daughter of Leeann Michaud of Easton and is the granddaughter of Gail Webb of Fort Fairfield.
The pageant served as a fundraiser for the Crown CARES (Creating A Respectful Environment in Schools) program, which is “specifically designed for volunteers, pageant systems and peer ambassadors who wish to promote awareness as a platform on the epidemic of bullying in schools, to cultivate a safe environment and most importantly teach skills to develop social responsibility in school-age children, youth and teens and is modeled after the Unite Against Bullying Project.”
