HOULTON, Maine — The Houlton Lodge of Elks recently made its annual donation to Sarah’s House of Maine and the Bridge to Hope Foundation.
Both of these charities meet the needs of local patients undergoing cancer treatments. Sarah’s house provides temporary housing for patients traveling to the Bangor area for their care. The Bridge to Hope foundation provides financial and community support to patients in southern Aroostook County.
The funds donated were provided by the Elks National Foundation as part of the Elks continuing commitment to improving our communities at a local level. A check for $1,000 was presented to each organization.
This project was made possible by a grant from the Elks National Foundation, the charitable arm of the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks. Through its Community Investments Program, the Elks National Foundation awards grants to local Elks Lodges to help the Elks strengthen their communities. This year, the Elks National Foundation will award $6.5 million in grants to benefit Elks communities.
