The Houlton Chapter of TOPS (Take Off Pounds Sensibly) held its weekly meeting Friday, June 14. The group had eight TOPS and four KOPS (Keep Pounds Off Sensibly) present. The “Loser of the Week” was Joanne Scott and the runner-up was Janette Nelson. Great job ladies!
Betty Wyman won the skinny dish and Jean Merritt won the 50-50 raffle. We continue to place many different things in the health basket. Fruits and vegetables, popcorn, raisins, and many more items. Wyman was the winner of this week’s basket.
What a great area we live in. The gardens are all planted and soon fresh vegetables will be available. Yummy! The farmer’s market is open and what a variety of stands there are each Saturday morning. Thank you all of you vendors for your participation.
Well our yearly workshop is over and 43 people were here in Houlton last Saturday, June 8. Janice Coty traveled from the Caribou area to serve as our area captain and she did a great program. As the hosts, I think our group did a great job, with a silent auction as our yearly fundraiser. Thank you to all for the articles brought in. Thanks also to Houlton Regional Hospital for the room in which we held our meeting.
I was much surprised when Chapter No. 0233 Houlton received a second recognition as being 25 years as a continuing chapter. That’s pretty amazing, don’t you think?
That’s the news for this week. For more information or directions to our meetings call me at 538-8760. We meet every Friday morning. Hope to see you there with the support that all of us need.
