HOULTON, Maine — The Houlton-Hodgdon Adult and Community Education is offering two sailing courses starting in July.
Intro to Sailing is for anyone that wishes to learn to sail and has no experience or is curious how sailing works. A two-hour “in the classroom” course will take place on July 10 at 5 p.m. at the Houlton Higher Education Center. There will then be three hours of on the water, hands on training at East Grand Lake. Those sailing times will vary based on learner schedule and weather. The cost is $65 a person, or $110 for two sailing partners.
The second course, Skill Building, will take place on July 24 at 5 p.m. at the Houlton Higher Education Center. This course will be for those learners that took Intro to Sailing in 2018 or the pre-requisite Sailing 1, or by instructor approval. There will be two hours of class time, followed up by three hours on the water. The cost is $75 per person, or $130 for two sailing partners.
