HOULTON, Maine — Katahdin Trust, a community bank serving northern Maine and the greater Bangor and Portland regions, recently held a special company-wide employee appreciation event that included presenting the “Top of the Mountain Commitment to Community” Award.
This year’s award went to Joe Clukey, vice president/retail services officer in Presque Isle.
“An important part of our bank’s mission says we will ‘[add] to the quality of life of the communities we serve,” shared Jon Prescott, Katahdin Trust president and CEO. “Last year our employees demonstrated that commitment by volunteering more than 7,600 hours of their time to 230 non-profit organizations and community events. That’s an equivalent of 950 work days that employees taught financial literacy classes, coached athletic teams, helped at food pantries, and much more.”
Each year, one employee is selected for going above and beyond to assist with a variety of worthwhile causes. The award includes a choice of several gifts specifically tailored to the recipient’s interests.
Clukey joined Katahdin Trust in 1991 and is well-known for his volunteer efforts in the greater Presque Isle community. Last year, he gave more than 100 hours to many local organizations including United Way of Aroostook, Special Olympics Maine, and his local Rotary Club. He also spends his time teaching financial literacy by participating in Junior Achievement of Maine, Get Smart About Credit Day, and Teach Children to Save Day.
“It is an honor to recognize Joe with the Top of the Mountain Commitment to Community Award,” added Bonnie Foster, executive vice president/retail services. “He embodies the spirit of Katahdin Trust and is most deserving of this award.”
