HOULTON, Maine — With the completion of Phases II and III of the Riverfront Development Plan, a dedication ceremony has been scheduled to celebrate the milestone.
The Riverfront Committee will host a dedication ceremony on Thursday, July 18, at 4 p.m. in Riverfront Park. The public is encouraged to attend. The dedication will commemorate the many amenities that have been added to Riverfront Park in the last 10-15 years, including a playground and restrooms.
The occasion will also be used to dedicate the completion of the new Meduxnekeag River Trail which connects with the Riverfront Park Trail.
A similar ceremony was held in 2005 when the Gateway Crossing Bridge was completed. Thursday’s program will mark the first time such recognition since that time and will highlight the many projects that have been completed in Riverfront Park.
Robert Anderson, chairman of the Riverfront Committee, will serve as master of ceremonies for the program. Anderson has been involved with the development of the bridge and the park from the beginning.
Speakers will include Town Manager Marian Anderson, Town Council Chairman Jane Torres, Riverfront Committee Representative Nancy Ketch, Paul Callnan representing the Putnam Family Trust and Susan York who was the designer of the story boards in the park and along the trail.
Businesses, organizations and individuals who have contributed to the projects over the years will be recognized. There will be a ribbon cutting and refreshments will be served.
