SHERMAN, Maine — Super villains beware, the town of Sherman is gathering a force of superheroes for its annual “Old Home Days” Friday, Aug. 30 through Monday, Sept. 2.
The event begins Friday, Aug. 30, with a book sale, spaghetti supper and variety show. Saturday’s events include a cancer walk, four-wheeler ride, auction, Sherman High Alumni banquet and public dance with fireworks.
On Sunday, the Masons will host a breakfast at their Masonic Hall, followed by an art show, horseshoe tournament, coed softball event, lobster luncheon, music in the park, petting zoo, chicken barbecue for supper, and a glow dance for children at the Sherman Gym.
Monday’s events feature the popular pumpkin doughnuts at 7:30 a.m. followed by the town-wide parade at 10 a.m. Lineup begins at 9:30 a.m. on Gardner Street and this year’s theme is “superheroes.”
Following the parade, games and food will be available in the park. A craft fair takes place from 10:30-3:30 at the Sherman Gym, a cruise-in follows at 11 a.m. at Tom’s Garage. Other activities include a quilt show, music in the park and a bean supper.
