PRESQUE ISLE, Maine — The County Federal Credit Union, along with the Maine Credit Union League and services provider Synergent, have made the 2019 Best Places to Work in Maine list.
In addition, University Credit Union, which has a branch at the University of Maine at Presque Isle, joins the total of 15 Maine credit unions earning the recognition.
CFCU has branches in Houlton, Presque Isle, Caribou and Fort Fairfield, with its operations center at 110 Carmichael St. in Presque Isle.
The annual awards program was created in 2006 and is a project of the Society for Human Resource Management, Maine State Council (MESHRM) and Best Companies Group.
This statewide survey and awards program was designed to identify, recognize, and honor the best places of employment in Maine, benefiting the state’s economy, its workforce and businesses. The 2019 Best Places to Work in Maine list is made up of 100 companies in three size categories: small (15-49 U.S. employees), medium (50-249 U.S. employees), and large (250-plus U.S. employees). CFCU, the Maine Credit Union League and Synergent were recognized in the medium size category.

Companies from across the state entered the two-part process to determine the Best Places to Work in Maine. The first part consisted of evaluating each nominated company’s workplace policies, practices, benefit offerings and demographics. The second part consisted of an employee survey to measure the employee experience.
Best Companies Group managed the overall registration and survey process in Maine, analyzed the data, and used their expertise to determine the final rankings.
The 15 credit union winners include, in the small employer category: Oxford Federal Credit Union, Sabattus Regional Credit Union, Saco Valley Credit Union, Trademark Federal Credit Union and TruChoice Federal Credit Union. In the medium-size category: cPort Credit Union, Downeast Credit Union, Evergreen Credit Union, Infinity Federal Credit Union, Maine State Credit Union, Midcoast Federal Credit Union, PeoplesChoice Credit Union, The County Federal Credit Union, Town & Country Federal Credit Union and University Credit Union.
The Maine Credit Union League and Synergent, and the above listed credit unions, will be recognized at the Best Places to Work in Maine awards ceremony on Oct. 2 and will be listed in a special publication by Mainebiz. The final rankings will be announced at the event.

The Maine Credit Union League is a nonprofit, professional trade association serving the state’s credit unions. Founded by credit unions in 1971, Synergent is a managed services provider that offers services including technology and marketing.
