PRESQUE ISLE, Maine — The grand reopening of the new Presque Isle McDonald’s at 656 Main Street is scheduled to take place at 7 a.m. on Friday, Sept. 6.
The new, modern restaurant, owned and operated by Heidi and Daryl Abbotoni, will be open from 5 a.m. to 11 p.m. daily, serving a full McDonald’s menu from its state-of the-art kitchen.
“We are very excited about serving the greater Presque Isle community from our newly rebuilt location,” said Heidi Abbotoni. “Town officials have helped make this process very smooth and we look forward to once again welcoming our loyal customers, as well as visitors to the area.”
The new restaurant was built on the same site of the town’s original McDonald’s, and is the next-generation style, reflecting the corporation’s newest restaurant design elements. The 5,470-square-foot restaurant will offer seating for 102 customers and free wi-fi.
The owners said the contemporary and inviting environment includes a PlayPlace for children. A local image will be creatively displayed in the new restaurant, and exterior features will include beautiful landscaping and a double-lane drive-thru for faster service.
The restaurant will offer classic as well as newer food and beverage items, and will carry an “experience of the future” feel, including table service, kiosks and mobile ordering.
The Abbotonis said with respect to the environment, the restaurant incorporates several energy-saving components, such as an energy-efficient HVAC system and an energy management system for more efficient refrigeration, lighting and heating.
Several local Maine businesses executed the majority of the interior and exterior construction work including plumbers, masons and contractors such as Buildings Etcetera Inc., J. McLaughlin Construction, J.H. McPartland and Sons, Swallow’s Electric, P.D.Q. Door, Powers Roofing, Steelstone Industries, Inc., Rockwater
Construction and Caron’s Lawn and Property Maintenance, the owners said.
During a 1:30 p.m. ceremony at the restaurant on Sept. 6, the Abbotonis will host an official ribbon cutting, which will include a flag raising ceremony performed by local veterans, and the singing of the national anthem. Additionally, the Abbotonis will donate 10 percent of sales from Sept. 6 and 7 to Pine Street Elementary School to support the purchase of books for the school’s new library.
As part of the grand reopening celebration, there will be weekly giveaways for a month, including a 50” Roku Smart TV, a Dead River $500 gift certificate, and a Katahdin Trust Basket with a $250 Visa gift card. Customers can enter to win a prize from Sept. 6 until Sept. 30.
The restaurant will offer daily grand opening specials from Sept. 6 to Oct 6, as follows: Monday, free any size coffee all day with any purchase; Tuesday, $2.50 Big Mac (10:30 a.m. until close); Wednesday, $2 Happy Meal (cheeseburger, hamburger and four-piece nugget only, 10:30 a.m. until close); Thursday, $2 Egg McMuffin (open until 10:30 a.m.); Friday, free small fry with any purchase (10:30 a.m. until close); and Saturday and Sunday, $1.25 hotcakes (open until 10:30 a.m.).
