HOULTON, Maine — The Maine State Police Troop F barracks in Houlton responded to a number of calls for service during the period of Aug. 19-25, including the following.
Wednesday, Aug. 21
PATTEN: Trooper Saucier was contacted by a local business owner regarding a shoplifting complaint that had taken place in his store. A suspect was developed in the case and Tr. Saucier located the local woman in Millinocket Court. She was charged with the theft.
Thursday, Aug. 22
LINNEUS: Tr. Saucier responded to Route 2A in Linneus when a citizen reported that there was a wrecker off in the ditch and the operator was slumped over the steering wheel. Tr. Saucier arrived to find the operator still in the vehicle. His investigation revealed that the operator’s license was revoked, he was out on bail conditions, and it appeared that he was under the influence of drugs. Tr. Saucier arrested the man and transported him to the jail in Houlton. Once there he performed a DRE exam on the operator and did determine he was under the influence of stimulants. The operator was charged with operating after revocation, operating under the influence of drugs, and violation conditions of release.
PRESQUE ISLE: Sgt. Clark was driving through Presque Isle when he noticed someone had struck a street sign in the median, leaving a large amount of debris in the roadway. Sgt. Clark started clearing the wreckage from the roadway when he observed a vehicle with front end damage and driving with no headlights. Sgt. Clark followed the vehicle with his emergency lights activated and eventually the vehicle stopped. Presque Isle Police Department arrived at the stop and after an investigation determined the woman was intoxicated. The female driver told Sgt. Clark she thought she hit a sign but continued to a local gas station so she could purchase some beer.
Friday, Aug. 23
PRESQUE ISLE: Tr. Martin was driving through Presque Isle when he observed a vehicle committing a traffic infraction. Tr. Martin stopped the vehicle and during his investigation found the female passenger had active bail conditions with one condition being a curfew. The woman violated her curfew by several hours and was arrested. She was transported to the Aroostook County Jail in Houlton.
STOCKHOLM: Cpl. Michaud assisted a local survey company while they marked property lines between the homes of two residents. One of the homeowners had decided to have the property surveyed. The survey appeared to put the septic system of one resident on the property of the other. The company had attempted to do the survey before, but one of the homeowners was arrested for threatening the other. The survey that was done is in dispute by one of homeowners. The survey was able to be finished and the issue will ultimately be resolved in court.
Saturday, Aug. 24
LINNEUS: Sgt. Clark, Cpl. Quint, and Tr. Duff responded to an address in Linneus where a man was making threats to shoot police officers, was waving a loaded pistol around a group of adults and children, and was talking about playing in blood. At one point the man took some rounds from the pistol and handed them to the homeowner but it was unknown if it was fully unloaded. The man attempted to fire the pistol during the incident and was upset that the cylinder was empty. Troopers and two Deputies from the Aroostook County Sheriff’s Department searched the area and located the man inside his nearby home. The man surrendered peacefully and was intoxicated. He was arrested for aggravated reckless conduct and criminal threatening with a dangerous weapon. He was taken to the Aroostook County Jail in Houlton.
LITTLETON: Sgt. Clark was conducting traffic enforcement on US Highway 1, Littleton, and observed a vehicle with poor operation. Sgt. Clark conducted a traffic stop and after an investigation to include field sobriety testing arrested the male driver for OUI. The man also had illegally attached registrations plates to his vehicle. He told Sgt. Clark that he recently leased the truck but could not afford the over $900 in registration fees so he attached his old plates to the vehicle. The truck was towed from the roadway and the plates were removed.
Sunday, Aug. 25
CROSS LAKE: Tr. Desrosier arrested a Madawaska man who had three active arrest warrants. The man was the passenger in a vehicle that was stopped for a traffic infraction in Cross Lake. Two of the warrants prohibited the man from being able to post bail. He was transported to the Aroostook County Jail in Houlton.
EAGLE LAKE: Cpl. Hafford was dispatched to a report of a female allowing a minor to drink alcohol at her residence. Cpl. Hafford arrived and found that the minor was not drinking but that her boyfriend had an active warrant for failing to appear. Cpl. Hafford arrested the male on the warrant and bailed him from the Fort Kent Police Department.
