HOULTON, Maine — The annual Harvest Festival returns to downtown Houlton this weekend to herald in the upcoming autumn season.
Sponsored by the Greater Houlton Chamber of Commerce, the Harvest Festival is a small event to celebrate Houlton’s Community Market and the bountiful farmers of the area. From 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., one side of Market Square will be closed to vehicle traffic, to allow people to walk freely around the Community Market vendors and to check out the special booths and games set up for the Harvest Festival.
Some of the activities include pumpkin painting, with free pumpkins on a first-come, first-served basis. Last year, pumpkins ran out early, so people are encouraged to come closer to the start to ensure they get a pumpkin.
