Houlton Chapter of TOPS met Friday, Aug. 30, with seven TOPS and three KOPS members present.
The Loser of the Week was Pam Richardson and the runners-up were Diane Folsom, Mildred Gagnon and Brenda LaCostic. Great job, ladies.
Brenda LaCostic won the skinny dish and Jean Merritt won the 50/50. Barbara Whited got the health basket. The health basket continues to be a great success with a variety of “Good for Us” food items brought in each week.
Charlotte Marley has the contest going now into the eighth week. We’re all having fun with this but no winner yet.
Pam Richardson presented the program from a book written by Bob Harper, “The Skinny Rules.” Many hints on making your life style changes a reality were mentioned, such as: Drink a large glass of water before each meal; eat apples and berries every day; and very important, read food labels, so you that you know what you are eating, how much salt, how much sugar.
Diane Folsom looked up some of the foods that are eaten every day on her phone, and what a surprise. Many were loaded with sugar, salt and additives. It pays to read the ingredients. Thank you, Diane. The hints mentioned made for a super group discussion.
