CARIBOU, Maine — The Caribou Middle School soccer team’s season is down to the final two weeks of play, with four games remaining on the schedule.

On Saturday, Sept. 14, under a cold and steady rain, Caribou defeated Central Aroostook 4-3 in Caribou. The Vikings trailed 3-2 at the half, but rallied in the second half for the win.

Scoring for Caribou were Owen Corrigan, Michael Hill, Damarion Gagnon, and Dylan Bouchard. Brayden Brescia had two assists, while Dawson St. Pierre added one assist. Also playing well on offense were Jace Violette, Trent Hersey, and Marshall Hersey, according to coach Stephen Perrault.

“Caribou’s defense was led by goalies Calvin Hersey and Logan White, who played well in difficult conditions,” Perrault said. “Keegan Bell, Cooper Ouellette, and Gage Hale also played well on the defensive side.”

On Monday, Sept 16 at Houlton, the Vikings battled the Shires to a 2-2 double overtime stalemate.

Again the Vikings had to make a second half comeback after trailing 2-0 late in the game. With 7 minutes remaining, Caribou scored their first goal when Corrigan received a pass from Mason St. Peter.  With only three minutes left, Bouchard slammed in a goal to tie the game in the exciting contest. Neither team was able to score in the two overtime periods resulting in the tie.

“Alex Belanger made several outstanding saves in the game,” the coach said. “Also playing well were Edison Sleeper, Joe Peter Paul, Tristan Robbins, and Ty Hunter.”
