MADAWASKA, Maine — The Aroostook Huskies traveled to Madawaska Saturday, Sept. 28, to play a wet and wild game against the Valley Mustangs in the Maine Independent Football League.
The Huskies emerged victorious 28-6 to improve to 3-0 on the season, while the Mustangs fell to 1-3.
“We started the game off with a strong first drive thanks to a 30-yard pass from Dom Poisson to Connor Rideout, who capped off the drive with a 10 yard rush,” said coach Taylor DeFelice. “After the conversation we went up 8-0. The next possession Rideout picked off the (Valley) quarterback for a quick change of possession and after a few plays Dom scored his first rushing TD of the season to put us up 14-0.”
Following another defensive stop by the Huskies, the team struck paydirt once again as Rideout scored his second rushing touchdown of the game. After the successful conversation, the Huskies led 22-0 at halftime.
Things slowed down considerably in the second half as the lone Huskie score game from an Ilijaha Fortes rushing touchdown.
