PRESQUE ISLE, Maine — Northern Maine Community College will host Alumni Weekend activities on Friday, Oct. 18, and Saturday, Oct. 19, on the NMCC campus. All alumni, friends of the college and others in the community are invited to take part in the activities.
“The Alumni and Friends Organization is pleased to be the sponsor of the Alumni Weekend activities,” said Tara Henderson-Hayes, president of the Alumni and Friends Organization and a 2003 graduate of the college.
Things will get underway on Thursday evening when the organization sponsors BINGO night for the current students and guests.
On Friday, Oct. 18, alumni and friends of the college are invited to take part in the College’s Open House. Visitors will have the opportunity to visit the campus to tour classrooms and lab spaces, and see updated facilities and technology.
The annual Alumni Dinner and Awards Ceremony will be held on that evening beginning with a reception at 5:30. The evening marks an opportunity for alumni and others to meet up with old friends and network with alumni and professionals from the college and community. Following the reception and Potato Bar meal, the Organization will introduce the new officers for 2020 and announce the recipient of the Torchbearer Award. This Award is present to a person or persons for outstanding and consistent effort on behalf of the Alumni and Friends Organization. Robert Rice, Diesel Hydraulics Instructor for 22 years, will be recognized as the 2019 NMCC Instructor of the Year. Cost for the dinner is $15 per person.
On Saturday morning at 10, the organization is sponsoring a “Decades Gathering.” Graduates from the years, ’69, ’79, ’89, ’99, 2009 and 2019 will have the opportunity to meet up with old friends and exchange stories. Anyone is invited to attend this event. The cost for the “Decades Gathering” is $9 per person.
